Bhopal: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Madhya Pradesh have issued a stern warning to Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in response to her recent social media post. In the post, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accused the state government of engaging in corrupt activities. However, the BJP leaders have dismissed her allegations as baseless and are demanding concrete evidence to support her claims. Madhya Pradesh’s Home Minister Narottam Mishra, refuting the accusations, has challenged Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to substantiate her charges; otherwise, he hinted at potential actions by both the state government and the BJP.
V D Sharma, the Chief of the Madhya Pradesh BJP, has taken a more aggressive stance. He has warned of legal repercussions against Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, alleging that she used a fabricated letter in her social media post to make her accusations. The Congress-led opposition, on the other hand, is determined to prove that the BJP-led government is tainted by corruption. They have also accused the ruling party of employing tactics to create a sense of political intimidation.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, on X (formerly known as Twitter), asserted yesterday that a collective of contractors from Madhya Pradesh had written a letter to the Chief Justice of the High Court. In the letter, they reportedly complained about being forced to pay a 50% commission before receiving their payment. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra likened this to the previously observed corruption in Karnataka, where a 40% commission was alleged. She accused the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh of surpassing even its own record of corruption. She stated, “The corrupt BJP government in Karnataka used to collect 40% commission. In Madhya Pradesh, BJP has gone ahead by breaking its own record of corruption. People of Karnataka ousted the 40% commission government, now the people of Madhya Pradesh will remove the 50% commission government from power.”
Responding to these allegations, Home Minister Narottam Mishra criticized the Congress for engaging in what he referred to as “disgusting” political maneuvering without any substantial grounds. He urged Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to present evidence to validate her claims or else face potential consequences. Mishra specifically demanded that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra disclose the identity of the individual or contractor who authored the letter mentioned in her social media post.

State BJP Chief V D Sharma, speaking to the media, accused the Congress of being power-hungry and resorting to falsehoods to gain an advantage. He labeled the situation a conspiracy and suggested that legal actions might be taken under cybercrime provisions due to the nature of her tweet. Sharma emphasized that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra needed to clarify the source of the letter she cited, as he believes she has misled not only the state but the entire country with a fabricated document.
K K Mishra, Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Media Department, expressed confidence that his party would substantiate their claims of corruption within the BJP government. He accused the ruling party of employing unconstitutional tactics and creating an atmosphere of political intimidation. He asserted, “The BJP should face reality instead of resorting to unconstitutional means. We will prove the government’s corruption.”
Madhya Pradesh is scheduled to hold assembly elections in November of this year.
